SOC Events

SOC hosts a number of events in neighborhoods across Milwaukee's Near South Side each
year.  From block meetings and clean ups to forums with elected officials and city workers,
SOC focuses their events on connecting residents to city services and other motivated
community members in their neighborhood.

Connecting to the right people and resources is the first step in making changes in your
community.  Call us at SOC (414)672-8090 if you would like us to help you plan an event in

Spring Maintenance Meeting
last held March 24th 2011
Generally one of our largest meetings, this annual event is
held every spring to discuss maintenance issues like pot
holes, trash collection, and housing resources. Speakers
attend from the City's Department of Public Works and
Department of Neighborhood Services to give information
about what they do and how to access their system of
services. The meeting also includes representatives from
various housing resources to talk about their programs and
answer questions.  Click here to go to our housing page.
Over 100 residents
attended in addition to
elected officials and
representatives from the
city.  See the meeting's

For this coast to coast clean up initiative, SOC hosted 6 clean
ups across the Near South Side focusing on neighbor
participation and community investment.   After the GACU
ends SOC continues its commitment to litter-free
communities by helping residents and block groups host
    clean ups throughout the summer.
Between all of our sites
we had more than 150
neighbors pitching in and
picking up trash.
